Flag Colors & Description

The flag of Turkmenistan depicts a vertical red stripe near the hoist side with a white crescent moon with five white stars in the upper corner just to the fly side of the red stripe, over a green field. The red stripe contains five tribal guls (designs used in producing carpets) stacked above two crossed olive branches similar to the olive branches on the UN flag. The crescent moon represents Islam and the stars represent the regions or velayats of Turkmenistan.
