Flag Colors and Description

Mayotte uses the flag of France for official occasions. The unofficial, local flag depicts the coat of arms of Mayotte centered on a background. The name of the island appears in red capital letters above the coat of arms. The main elements of the coat of arms is flanked on either side by a seahorse and appears above a scroll with the motto RA HACHIRI (We are Vigilant).
